About

The logbook for every pilot

Every pilot knows that keeping track of their hours can be a chore, so Sectors Pilot Logbook includes a suite of tools to automate your data entry and ensure your compliance with local regulatory requirements. Features like the Flight Map and Social page go beyond the day-to-day to help every pilot reconnect with their passion and enjoyment of what they do.

The site is designed for Australian pilots but available to pilots all around the world. It can be saved to the home screen of a mobile device by following these instructions.

Sectors is a hobby project which is currently offered for free. It is fully functional and used by pilots all around Australia. If you wish to support the project, please consider donating.

Frequently Asked Questions

If your question isn't answered here, feel free to contact me!

1. Is Sectors really free?

Yes! Sectors is a passion project but that doesn't mean that it isn't functional and capable. I'm constantly tinkering with the site to make it more functional and easy to use, and the user base continues to grow as more and more people make the switch.

I currently cover all costs associated with the project (web hosting, Google Maps integration, FlightAware API costs, etc.) so if you wish to support the project, please consider donating.

2. Is the site currently still in development?

Yes, ongoing development continues with the project. All primary functions have been operational for many years and a large group of pilots trust Sectors to log their hours for both recreational and professional use. A dev blog is accessible from the side menu which provides updates on new features and points of interest as the site continues to grow.

Sectors has all of the functionality to meet the criteria of a digital pilot logbook under CASR Part 61.

3. Is there an iOS/Android app?

No, Sectors is purely web-based. This removes significant development overhead (removing the need to maintain three code bases) and allows for faster update publishing. The web app is designed to look great on any screen size (from the smallest mobile to the largest desktop computer) and will save to the home screen of a mobile device to display similar to a native app. Scroll down to learn how to save the web app to your mobile device's home screen and enable an app-like experience. Note that internet connection is required to access the site.

4. Who is Sectors developed by?

Sectors is the passion project of a single developer. I'm a professional pilot with a background in IT. I started building Sectors in 2017 after leaving the IT industry to pursue a career in aviation and haven't looked back. The site was initially designed to provide a digital backup of my personal logbook but quickly grew into something much more, and is now used by a large group of pilots around the country.

5. How can I request a new feature?

A number of the features in Sectors have been developed in response to community feedback. If you have any queries, ideas, or feedback, I'm all ears! Get in touch with me.

Developer

Sectors is maintained by a single developer.

Matt

Developer

I developed Sectors in the hopes of creating an easy to use, functional digital logbook system for all types of pilots. It is currently free to use but represents an enormous amount of work by a single developer, with no other support or backing, and all ongoing operating costs (web hosting, Google Maps & FlightAware integration) are worn by myself.

If you find the site useful, please consider helping me in return with a small donation.

Save App to your Home Screen
